As my dream for getting a Fisker starts to fade, I started test driving other cars. A Honda prologue. Then a Lexus RX 350h. Volvo XC60. All were nice cars but, something was missing. Something just didn't fit the bill, and to be honest, at the time I didn't know what it was. And then it came to me. The light turned from green to yellow, which meant soon it will be turning red. I punched the gas of the Honda prologue, and it occurred to me. I was missing that power. I was missing 400 plus horsepower. These cars were all fine, but they were stuck in that never-never land of 320 to 360 horsepower. Enough horsepower to be spunky, but not to be game changing powerful. I could see myself driving these cars, and constantly having to stop for red lights. Never having the power. Never having the punch. Never having what 450 horsepower would give you to get through that yellow light before it turns red. That’s the power that a Fisker Ocean One would give you.
Then one day, I get an e-mail from CarGurus. It was a reminder to continue the search for the Fisker. And in October of 2024, just months before I was scheduled to turn in my lease car, I came across Newport Fisker and their inventory of Fisker Oceans. Immediately, I began salivating at the idea of getting my hands not only on a Fisker, but at the prices being offered, I would be able to get my hands on a Fisker Ocean One! The prized possession of the Fisker line. The limited-edition Ocean One, badged and numbered, that would certainly become a collector’s item in the future. I tried not to dwell on it too much and suffer through the anxiety of waiting for Christmas morning to open my presents, but every other day I was looking through the inventory on the website. As my car was due to be returned November 1st, I contacted Newport Fisker on the afternoon of October 25th, and asked if the Fisker Ocean One, in Big Sur Blue with white Alcantara interior, inventory #5249, was still available? Can you believe this? The answer was no. The car was under contract, and they were waiting for paperwork from the credit union to go through to complete the purchase. The key here was that this car had the 22” F5b AirGlider wheels. And I liked these more than any other, but in the end, I figured, what the hell, I’ll go with inventory #5336, same exterior/interior, but with 22” F3b SlipStream wheels. At least they were all black.
How do we meet our mobility needs as a society without causing harm to the planet and impacting future generations? By using less, using better, and using again.

The great thing about this search is now I'm also began comparing the results, options and prices against other Fiskers on the market. Used cars from across the southland, I weighed cheaper prices for more mileage. I felt this way, at least the car has been driven around and anything that may be broken, would be fixed. But no, I thought, I want a new Fisker. Fresh off the boat. No real-world experience and ready to conquer the roads to be travelled. And, I want the cooler version, the dream version. The Big Sur Blue matte finish, the cool 22" wheels, the white Alcantara interior.
So I headed down to Newport Fisker to check it all out in person. When I got to the lot, they had dozens and dozens of Fisker Oceans. It was really cool to see such an inventory. I got over to the Fisker I was looking for, and just fell in love with it. I test drove a Fisker back in December of 2023. I think I actually, on camera, commented that the car felt plastic. And that is some of the comments that other owners were reporting as well: That for a $75,000 car, it felt kind of cheap. But sitting in the white Alcantara interior, it felt anything but. It felt elegant, sophisticated, futuristic, and more importantly, it felt like it was mine.
I couldn't believe that this was working out in my favor, but the thrill I had of seeing the car in person, taking the test drive, and realizing I was about to purchase a car with 450 horsepower, no warranty, white Alcantara interior, no support, Big Sur blue matte finish paint, and no company standing behind it, electric car. I thought I must be either batshit crazy, or crazy like a fox. Either way, it was just crazy. My dream car had been found. All is good in the world. This story has a happy ending!
